Tip 11 - Viewing Tracked Changes prepared in documents based on '97 and 2000 versions of Word
___________________________________________________________
Users of earlier versions of Word were sometimes taught to turn on "Save Preview Picture" within the File/Properties dialog box in order to see a preview of their document in Windows Explorer or Word's File/Open screen. However, starting with Word XP, having the "Save Preview Picture" feature turned on actually started causing problems: (1) it removed the previewing feature and (2) it caused Word to hide Tracked Changes in redlined documents, leaving the markup view at "Final" instead of "Final Showing Markup". Users trying to do new redlining would run into all sorts of problems as a result of the hidden track changes.
To avoid this check File/Properties and make sure that "Save Preview Picture" is not selected. If it is, it should be deselected and the document should be saved again.
1. Go to File menu and click on Properties
2. On the Summary Tab uncheck "Save preview picture" (See figure below)
